Should we use AI to automatically translate important books into new languages?
Does it matter that large language models were trained on stolen literature?
What do we know about the subtle, or not-so-subtle, changes to meaning and political direction that chatbots like Claude and Copilot make when you ask for a translation?
This year's local literature festival is focused on translated works. The NGO AIclusion has invited me to hold an interactive workshop on AI, language, and meaning.
Join us!
We will explore our rights and responsibilities in this age of AI – as readers, writers, and translators.
We will discuss legal developments and recent research,
We will reflect on what we want with AI, and don't want, and how to communicate this to others.
This will be an interactive and engaging conversation about creativity, technology, fairness, and the futures we want to build.
