🎙️Let's argue about AI standards

I got into a bit of an argument on Linkedin last week - with some clever lawyers who host the Legal4Tech - The podcast.



Rosalia Anna D'Agostino is a Privacy and Digital Law Expert at Spirit Legal in Leipzig.

Giacomo Amodio is an associate at Panetta in Rome.


They interview AI and legal experts on topics like consumer rights in recommender algorithms (my favorite episode so far), service provider liability, and data sovereignty.


We'll talk about

  • the weaknesses of the EU AI Act,

  • why it really wasn't meant to help AI engineers,

  • and how the harmonized standards coming from CEN/CENELEC are written to help - but maybe not in the way that engineers are hoping.


I'll speak as a standards insider here, because I spent 20 hours in July working on just one standard with the engineering committee; the one I find most exciting and important, on handling bias in high-risk AI systems.
